Some of the records were labeled in smaller boxes. These are listed as sub-series and are described separately. Sub-series I: Articles About Mexican Missions. The articles are both published and unpublished; most of the published articles are from the Lutheran Standard, and date from 1943 to 1950. Some of the unpublished articles are in Spanish, and some in English. Sub-series II: Congregations. These files are organized by mission and contain correspondence regarding the purchase of mission property as well as constitutions, building plans, and reports. There are also some files pertaining to parochial schools run by the missions, particularly the Lutheran Bible School in San Juan, Texas. Materials are in both English and Spanish. Sub-series III: General Records. The general records of the Commission on Mexican Missions are the bulk of this series, and contain miscellaneous information about the missions. Some material in the Floor Committee on Home Missions folder is in German. The folders that have the original folder title are in quotation marks. The rest of the general materials are in both English and Spanish. Also of interest are three church building plans, located in a large folder in Horizontal File 1, drawer 10. Sub-series IV: Liga Luterana (Luther League). These records contain registers and minutes of the Luther Leagues of Campo Alto, El Capote, and San Juan, Texas. The materials are all in Spanish. Sub-series V: Workers in Spanish-speaking Mission in Texas. These are record books that contain minutes and accounts of the Conferencia de Obreros de las Misiones Mejicanas. The records date from 1950 through 1966, so after 1960 records are of The American Lutheran Church (TALC). The materials are in both Spanish and English.
